Modakharaty is a digital bookstore owned and operated by Demandcom for Technology L.L.C.. This page states exactly what data we collect, why, and what we do not do.

The short version

We run no ads, no behavioural tracking, and we never sell data. We collect what is needed to deliver the book you bought and to run your account. One measurement tool (Google Analytics) runs only if you agree to it yourself.

1) Data we collect

Data you give us: your name, email address, and phone number if you choose to add one (optional). If you join the affiliate programme: your country, your marketing channels, and your payout details.

Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe or Paymob. Card numbers never reach our servers and we never store them. What reaches us is the confirmation that payment succeeded, the amount, the currency, and the transaction reference.

Purchase data: which books you bought, the language you chose, and how many times each file was downloaded — so download links work and so we can help if something goes wrong.

Sign-in data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. If you sign in with email and password, the password is stored hashed by the identity service (Firebase Authentication) and we never see it ourselves.

Passkeys (fingerprint / face): if you enable them, all we store is a public cryptographic key. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your device and never reaches us.

2) Cookies — the complete list

This is every cookie and every piece of local storage the site uses. There are no others.

mk-theme — remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Purely functional.

mk-cart-v1 — your shopping cart, stored in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers.

mk_ref — set only if you arrive through an affiliate referral link. It holds the affiliate code and lasts 60 days. Its sole purpose is to credit that affiliate their commission (a contractual obligation to them). It is not used for advertising or behavioural analysis, and is never shared with any third party.

Session cookie — keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Cleared when you sign out.

mk-consent-v1 — remembers your answer to the consent bar so we do not ask every time. Stored in your own browser.

Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_*) — never set unless you press "Accept" on the consent bar. If you decline or ignore the bar, none of them are set and no data is sent.

3) Things we do not do

We display no advertising and no ad network runs on this site.

There is no Microsoft Clarity, no Facebook or TikTok pixel, and no other tracking script. Google Analytics is the only one, and only with your consent (clause 5).

We do not build a behavioural profile of you and do not infer your interests from your browsing.

We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, under any circumstances.

4) IP addresses and affiliate statistics

When someone clicks an affiliate link, we determine their country from the IP address using a database stored on our own server — meaning your address is never sent to any outside service. We record only the country (for example "Egypt"), and hash the IP irreversibly to avoid counting the same click twice within half an hour. The address itself is never stored.

5) Traffic measurement (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to learn which pages genuinely help people and which book draws interest. That is its only purpose — no advertising, no retargeting, no sharing with advertisers.

It does not run before you agree: the tool starts in a fully denied state (Google Consent Mode), and Google's script is not even loaded until you press "Accept".

If you decline, your choice is remembered and we do not ask again, and the site works exactly the same.

Part of your IP address is masked (anonymize_ip) before it reaches Google.

What is measured: pages opened, country, device and browser type, and where you arrived from. Not your name, not your email, nothing that identifies you personally.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; the consent bar will appear again.

6) Data sharing

We share your data only with the service providers without which the service cannot operate:

Google Firebase — identity and database (Google Cloud infrastructure).

Stripe and Paymob — payment processing.

Hostinger — server hosting and outbound email.

We may also disclose data in response to a formal legal request from a competent authority, limited to what that request requires.

7) Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are stored hashed, not readable. Verification codes sent to your email are also stored hashed, expire after 10 minutes, and lock after 5 wrong attempts. Book download links are cryptographically signed and bound to your specific order. That said, no method of transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure.

8) How long we keep data

Account and purchase records: kept while your account is active, and for three years after closure — financial and accounting records are legally required of us in Abu Dhabi.

Verification codes: 10 minutes, then deleted.

The mk_ref referral cookie: 60 days from your last visit through a referral link.

Click statistics: aggregated by country and date only, containing nothing that identifies an individual.

9) Your rights

See all the data we hold about you.

Ask us to correct it.

Ask us to delete your account and data (except financial records we are legally required to retain).

Revoke your passkeys or sign out of every device at any time from your account page.

Lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, write to info@modakharaty.com and we will respond within two business days.

10) Children

This site is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we discover such an account, we delete it.

11) Changes to this policy

If anything material changes — such as adding an analytics tool or a new service provider — we will update this page and the "last updated" date above before that change takes effect.
